Subject: KStep Issues

Tom,

I have a KStep that appears to have an issue. I am trying to run it in isolated mode so I pulled off jumpers 34 and 35. When I apply 5V I would expect to see the +5V LED light up but it doesnt. I checked supply voltage and when I plug 5V into ISO GND and +5V on JP6 it appears to be shorting out my supply. I pulled the board and I there is continuity between +5V ISO and GND. Any idea how I could have gotten a short?

I inspected the board and can see not visible sign of damage. I had a short in the 50V power supply, but I dont see how it could have affected this board. Can you think of anything I can do to troubleshoot? I cant really afford to replace it, maybe there are a few components I can replace on the board?

Thanks,

Scott

Tom,

Ouch.. Looks like the KFlop is not working any longer as well. Must have done some seriously bad stuff when my power supply went out.

Are there any methods to troubleshoot a KFlop board? Both LED's come on and I have 5V and 3.3V on JP4. It just wont connect to a PC (tried on 2 PC's with 2 different cables).

Are there any components that would roast first that I could try replacing?

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

Do the KFLOP LEDs bink on and off for several seconds?  If so, have you tried the Flash Recovery?

Regards

TK

D2 comes on and then D1 flashes once. I tried recovery, and it has a timeout error. Is there anything else that I can try?
